Ab Tak Chhappan - Bobby Talks Cinema.com

Describing or praising “Ab Tak Chhappan” is not an easy task since it may not be liked by many viewers due to its cruelty and heavy bloodshed used to portray the undisclosed works of An Encounter Specialist and his two way links. But even then, I would surely like to include the movie in my “Must Watch List” since it is way ahead of many and one of the most superior movies made in Bollywood on the subject of Police Force and their working styles. Based on the controversial and unrevealed life of an encounter specialist, the film undoubtedly deserves your attention due to its various below mentioned merits:

If you love watching Ram Gopal Verma’s earlier movies where the concept or theme used to be more important than its glamour or star-cast then “Ab Tak Chhappan” will not disappoint you coming from the production house of the master film-maker himself.

If you have become a fan of director Shimit Amin after his two more famous movies, CHAKK DE INDIA and ROCKET SINGH then you got to see this debut movie of a talented RGV find Shimit Amin, which I still rate as his best work, out of the three.

If you love Nana Patekar as an actor par excellence then “Ab Tak Chhappan” unarguably stands tall among the Top 5 movies of the veteran actor which calls for a must watch immediately.

And if you want to study that how the rest of the cast (apart from the lead actors) plays the most important role in a movie then you can easily select “Ab Tak Chhappan” to teach you the value of supporting actors in a project. Especially watch Prasad Purandare in the latter half of the movie, who very daringly delivers a solid performance standing in front of Nana.

Other than the above mentioned merits, I simply loved the use of silence in the film by Shimit, which at times goes on to reveal much more than what a well written dialogue could have done. Particularly in the sequence where Revathy dies and later on too when Nana watches her murder file sitting in his Police Station. Moreover the film might work as an informative project for many as it bluntly showcases how the police officials work against the criminals with the help of their own crime associates.

So if you haven’t seen it yet then you are missing one of the most authentic, well directed and most profoundly enacted movies on the subject of the nexus between the Underworld and the Police. Hence you got to see this as your next.

Directed by Shimit Amin
Starring : Nana Patekar, Revathy, Nakul Vaid, Yashpal Sharma, Prasad Purandare, Hrishita Bhatt, Mohan Agashe & more.
