BTC Awards 2012 - Bobby Talks Cinema.com

In the last few decades, Bollywood Award Functions have not only grown in numbers but they are also often criticized for being biased and unfair by the movie lovers all over. Unfortunately in the present times these awards have got associated with the performances on stage and the gigantic reputations of Big Stars in the industry, which keep influencing the decision at the back stage. There have been enough stories behind the deserving or not deserving nominations and many reputed actors have already started to ignore them or have stopped taking them seriously as they used to in the earlier times.
Perhaps same is the case with most of the viewers too (including myself), who now consider these functions more as some entertaining programs telecast on the weekend than being the reputed annual award functions honoring the right talents performing in all those fabulous films released a year before.
Therefore after receiving many mail requests by friends and regular readers at the site, I decided to give my personal view too on the talented candidates of last year which had many interesting movies to offer made in some diverse genres. So here is my list of the winners who achieved Excellence in Hindi Cinema in the year 2012 and with this I have tried to honor the ones who really deserved it.

Devender Singh

BTC Excellence in Hindi Cinema Awards for 2012 a very good start for a marathon.

Awards on television shows are entertaining but BTC Awards are true.

Bobby Sing

Thanks Devender for your kind words and keep writing in.
Cheers!

Best Actor in a Negative Role: Rishi Kapoor (way more popular than Dhulia. At the time of release of Agneepath he was a craze)
Best Debut (Female): Ileana D Cruz (mature performance. Yami goes over the top playing a girl reluctant to get into a relationship)
Best Soundtrack / Music Director: Pritam Barfi (Haven\'t heard such music in hindi film ever. Sneha was also fantastic but her music cannot cater to all audience)
Best Actor : Paresh Rawal (Probably i like him because he is veteran actor who cannot go wrong with is act. Nawaz was good too but with such less screen time and less dialogues cannot be considered )

The rest i agree with you mostly. Keep writing, Bobby. You are doing a great job.
Thanks

Bobby Sing

Hi Goving,
Thanks for writing in praising my works here and I respect your opinion truly.
But this is my personal choice, so difference of opinion might be there which is acceptable.
However following are my arguments for the choice.

Best Actor in a Negative Role: Rishi Kapoor (way more popular than Dhulia. At the time of release of Agneepath he was a craze)
- As I see it Dhulia scored more as he is not an actor but a visionary director doing the role just for fun, and the way he did it is an example for even the veteran actors.

Best Debut (Female): Ileana D Cruz (mature performance. Yami goes over the top playing a girl reluctant to get into a relationship)
- Here I completely disagree as Yami won more hearts than Illeana undoubtedly.

Best Soundtrack / Music Director: Pritam Barfi (Haven't heard such music in hindi film ever. Sneha was also fantastic but her music cannot cater to all audience)
- In music department I always prefer originality and innovations which was done by Sneha and not Pritam.

Best Actor : Paresh Rawal (Probably i like him because he is veteran actor who cannot go wrong with is act. Nawaz was good too but with such less screen time and less dialogues cannot be considered )
- FYI here Nawaz is rewarded for GOW-II in which he was the solo hero from the first frame to the last.

With thanks once again for writing in.
Cheers!

I said about Nawazuddin in GOW 2 only. I believe GOW series was more of an ensemble cast performance than individual performance. Although he had the leading role, the best parts belong to characters Definite and Perpendicular (reminds me of THE CITY OF GOD).

About the music I think Sneha has bright future ahead but she has to get into a popular mould just like A R Rahman or Amit Trivedi (innovative yet catchy music). Also just like you have listed 100 best performances i suggest you make a list of 100 best soundtracks ever. I agree its a huge task but still, may be you can try.

Thanks for replying so early. BTC is the place for film enthusiasts.

Hi Govind,
Thanks for your understanding and yes there are few topics in my pending list as suggested by yourself in the comment.
One of them is about 100 Background Scores in Hindi Cinema too.
So if you have some names regarding this and also for the 100 Best Soundtracks then do let me know at my E-mail Id ie. [email protected] as that would be a great way to begin it.

Till then Take Care with
