Shekhar Kapoor shook the whole Indian Film Industry, critiques and viewers all, with his daring movie “Bandit Queen” in 1994. It was simply the boldest and first of its kind movie at that time with a very strong offensive language and highly explosive scenes.

The controversial biography was criticized and opposed left and right in India by different social groups after its release. But later after some years, the movie was widely accepted as a masterpiece and a major breakthrough in Indian Cinema. Shekhar also introduced talented actors such as Seema Biswas and Manoj Bajpai in the movie in leading roles.

The whole world took notice of “Bandit Queen” and it also took Shekhar Kapoor straight to Hollywood. The other most important feature of this film was that the world famous Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gave the music of a mainstream Hindi Feature Film for the first time ever and the soundtrack ranks among his best works. It is surely not a usual biographical attempt, as Shekhar has filmed it in a bold authentic yet entertaining way. Strongly recommended for serious cinema lovers, to be seen as a must.

A good work.....but had some extra sexual scenes, advanced from boundaries of hindi cinema at that time. May be thats y it was criticised by phoolan devi herself at that time.
