Daddy Cool (2009) & Death At A Funeral (2007)

“Daddy Cool” is said to be an official remake of the original 2007 hit comedy called “Death At A Funeral”. Though it’s not mentioned anywhere in its promotional campaign, but if it really is a legitimate version then that’s a great move by the producers for a change because the movie is a scene to scene take off from the English comedy (along with its poster design too)

It starts off exactly in a similar way, when a wrong coffin with a different body is brought in by the service providers. And later it has various characters and sequences moving accurately on the same lines of its original. Interestingly, there is an important role of a midget in “Death At A Funeral”, who is actually responsible for all the mess at the gathering. In the Hindi version, the same role is played by Rajpal Yadav who in fact looks more convincing in his superb act.

However, the concept of a comedy revolving around a funeral was not at all a good choice for a Hindi movie and that was one of the major reasons for its non performance at the box office.
