Dostana (2008) & its inspirations.

Generally speaking, the movie “Dostana” has a peculiar theme, completely based on a western concept where in all the key characters are also residing in Miami. So, the inspiration angle is quite obvious and certain in the case of this big budget blockbuster with a hit star-cast.

The basic theme of the movie is very close to that of “I Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” (2007), where also two friends (who are straight) have to pose as Gay couple in order to get some domestic benfits.

The other inspirational source is “The Devil Who Wears Prada” (2006), which also revolves around a fashion magazine and its lady owner. The scenes featuring Boman Irani & Priyanka Chopra in their fashion magazine world are heavily inspired from the famous Meryl Streep starrer English movie.
