One of the 5 Best Films by Gulzar, based on the world of physically challenged personalities. It is an emotional story of a couple living life with their own dignity even when God had deprived them from enjoying the power of sound. They cannot hear or speak but are living life as normal people, may be in a better way than many others around them.

It is undoubtedly a highly commendable and memorable piece of work by three masters together, Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri (Bachchan) and Gulzar. The film has moments to cherish, scenes which would make you cry and it defines loves in the most poetic manner. A pure cinematic gem by the maestro film-maker, Gulzar. One of the best scenes of the movie include the sequence when the couple are blessed with a child, but internally they are worried that whether their son is born as a normal kid with the ability to hear sound or not. The scene with the faulty toy without any sound is superbly written and conceived. A well directed movie straight from the heart of the director and brilliantly supported by all the actors. A must watch and not be missed at any cost.
