Hello Sir!

I think Vidhu Vinod Chopra\'s PARINDA was based on the Marlon Brando\'s classic ON THE WATERFRONT....
Apart from the whole two brother and their different ideology angle,it also involved big brother working for the gangster,younger brother has love story angle.
In the original version,Marlon decides to take revenge from the gangster because he killed his girlfriend\'s brother.In Parinda,heroine\'s brother character was replaced by hero\'s best friend character which was played by Anupam Kher.

It was the elder brother who gets killed by the gangster in the original film.In hindi version...this angle was replaced by younger brother along with his wife getting killed.

Parinda was definitely inspired by the old classic but Vinod Chopra gave this film his own touch and twist instead of copying it scene by scene like GHULAM.....and the movie turned out to be quit good.

Hello Raj,
Yes PARINDA did have the elements of ON THE WATERFRONT.... and it was Chopra's own style of remaking that gave it a cult status along with the music of R D Burman.

Late Raj Kapoor starrer \'PHIR SUBAH HOGI\' was adapted from FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY\'S novel called Crime and Punishment

That's right Raj, PHIR SUBAH HOGI is certainly based on CRIME AND PUNISHMENT and this is also mentioned in the film's titles too.

Hello!

Radhika Apte's PHOBIA- partially inspired from Visions(2015) and a spanish movie called At the end of spectra(2006).Infact the climax of Phobia..Radhika's realisation..is very much inspired from Visions.I saw some clips from the spanish movie on youtube and Phobia does seem to be inspired from it,if not copied
