In most of the cases, even an avid movie lover may not have heard about this lesser known film. But the moment you look at the title, it strikes you right away and raises several questions in mind that what would be there in its content with such weird kind of subject.
Luckily I got hold of this unusual but highly thoughtful and entertaining film from the British Council library and was hugely thankful to the selection team for making such an excellent collection. The film not only makes you think about the other side of the world hilariously but it also raises several valid questions on our own religious belief system being followed from centuries. To give you an idea, just imagine a solid case filed against the GOD in a court with many logical acquisitions by a person. Now as the case is presented it interestingly goes into a trial in front of a jury, who finds itself in a big moral fix hearing the strange but reasonable proceedings.
Though it is purely based on a fantasy theme but nevertheless is surprisingly very entertaining and thought provoking both at the same time. The court room scenes in which the lawyers are fighting the case against the GOD, giving their solid arguments are very well written with an impressive make-believe touch which cannot be denied. And the reference to The Bible sayings in the trial is also worth mentioning here, which simply knocks you down as it comes.
In all its indeed a rare and an unusual stuff which proves to be a good choice for the movie buffs, who keep looking for some unconventional movies made on novel and unexplored themes. So if you are one of them then just go for it NOW.

Recently in 2012, the above film was officially remade in Hindi as “Oh My God” featuring Paresh Rawal in the lead role of Billy Connolly as the man who sues God. Though the Indian version added the GOD himself coming on to the earth in order to guide Paresh Rawal in his case filed and also had many other deliberate insertions to suit the Hindi films audience. But even then its remained a commendable brave effort by its makers taking into consideration the conservative mind-set of the Indian viewers.
The film was received well at the box office and deserves to be given a chance along with watching its original directed by Mark Joffe.
