Maniratnam's "Yuva" is said to be a path breaking movie with a different theme, new to the Hindi Film Industry, where one incident (or accident) is seen from three different angles, interconnecting various characters of the story.

But this basic plot of the movie has some interesting similarities with "Amores Perros" (Spanish) (2000), where also a road accident is there, interconnecting different characters of the movie coming from contrasting backgrounds. But this world famous Spanish masterpiece is very bold and hard hitting movie as compared to “Yuva” and the similarity rests there only.

Moreover, the concept of using the same sequence in the narration from different perspectives was first seen in Shyam Benegal’s “Suraj Ka Saatwan Ghoda” in 1993. There also you find a particular scene coming again on the screen for more than once. But each time the scene is repeated, it has a different meaning as seen through the eyes of different characters in the storyline.
