AMAZON OBHIJAAN (Bengali/Hindi) - A pathetic treasure hunt adventure that even makes Dharmendra’s ZALZALA look like an epic enjoyable film in comparison. [TTP (To The Point) Review by Bobby Sing]

Beginning with all poorly animated animals coming on screen in its very first sequence itself, AMAZON OBHIJAAN gives you a clear indication of its questionable vision and terrible execution coming ahead.

Moreover with a voiceover narrating the story throughout and the script not even having even a single exciting sequence as a jungle-adventure, it keeps on going at almost the same pace right till the end and has got three highly annoying acts (including the lead couple). Particularly it’s the old man, who keeps irritating the most with his pathetic, hamming expressions and awful dialogues.

The painfully shoddy writing assumes the viewers to be all kids below 10, only interesting in eye-catching visuals or animated animals to be exact. Plus the director (Kamaleshwar Mukherjee) seems to have made this in some kind of gifted overconfidence after the success of his last film.

Presented as a sequel to the successful CHANDER PAHAR (The Moon Mountain), that was an adaptation of a novel with the same title by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, AMAZON OBHIJAAN can easily be rated as a severe torture failing in its almost every department be it storyline, performances, art direction, VFX, background score, music or else. Searching for the hidden land of gold, it doesn't fulfill any requirement of this particular adventure genre and is a kind of attempt that even makes Dharmendra’s ZALZALA look like an epic enjoyable film in comparison.

Rating : 0.5 / 5 (And that too just for the technical crew working hard without knowing what exactly is being made by the captain of the ship )

Beyond The Review

With its title meaning The Amazon Expedition, I was told that the film has been made after extensive research by the director and is probably the costliest Bengali film till date. But may be the research was made just on the locations and the expenses were spent on the stay of the entire crew in the foreign land, because otherwise the film displays no sign of any kind of serious effort made in its entire long duration putting it honestly.
