Aamir (2008) & Cavite (2005)

It was really nice to see a well made thriller shot stylishly at a low budget with a brilliant upcoming actor. And I was more impressed to know that it is also a work of a debutant director. No doubt, the director “Rajkumar Gupta” and his lead actor “Rajeev Khandelwal” both have the spark to make it big in the future. But it was really disheartening to find that the movie which is being appreciated by many in the public as well in the trade, has once again got a similar one in World Cinema.

“Cavite” released in 2005 and directed by the duo “Neill Dela Llana” & “Ian Gamazon”, has exactly the same narration as we have seen in “Aamir”. It’s acceptable to be inspired in order to come up with something original of your own. But I am not in support of any kind of inspiration without acknowledgment. “Raj Kumar Gupta” has got the talent and if he had chosen an original theme for his debut movie then he would have been appreciated much more without any dark patch in the reviews. Eager to see an original piece of work from him next time.
