BHOOMI - A poorly executed film based on an alarmingly relevant subject lacking the emotional connect. [TTP (To The Point) Review by Bobby Sing)

Based on the same old, overused plot of revenge (recently seen in KAABIL, MAATR and MOM), BHOOMI was at least expected to be a decent emotional movie focusing on a father fighting for her daughter’s dignity, finally deciding to deliver the justice himself murdering the four rapists. But sadly it falls way short of even average and turns out to be a terribly awful film, typically resembling the ones we used to get in the forgettable 80s with its director showcasing no sensitivity in his execution of the crucial scenes of rape, humiliation or the trauma faced by the innocent girl.

Actually the mediocrity witnessed in the first two films of director Omung Kumar continues in his latest BHOOMI, but this time he dips even further making a terribly bad or rather horrible movie talking about an alarmingly relevant social issue without establishing any kind of emotional connect with the viewers.

In few words, when a director suddenly comes up with a raunchy item number of Sunny Leone post intermission after dealing with a single father-daughter relationship, her brutal rape, social humiliation and attempted murder in his first half, then that clearly reveals his actual inner vision and understanding of the subject he is making his film on. So that should be enough as a review of Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film, wherein he still keeps trying his best playing the suffering father.

As a concluding thought, the most terrible thing in the world of creativity happens when a mediocre film like MARY KOM gets a National Award making the director find immense proud in his own mediocrity. Result of which are films like SARBJEET and BHOOMI, coming from the same state of mind, torturing the innocent viewers.
