Interestingly it's a musical based on a crime story expressed in the form dances and songs. Normally the musicals are based on lover stories and passionate themes. But here we have a musical which features the relationship between two female characters in the prison and a lawyer.

The lyrics are simply great and they impressively take the story to the next level. The female characters have more to say in the movie and they all have done a commendable job. Richard Gere as the opportunistic lawyer is classy and elegant with a style of his own. Catherine looks gorgeous specially in the song sequences. If you are not into musicals then this would be a completely different kind of experience all together. A good choice for experimental cinema lovers.
