Self respect and confidence is the key feature of this immensely popular film and arguably one of the top 3 by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. The latest buzz I heard few years back is that some states in India have included this film in their school syllabus to teach young students the meaning of self-esteem and confidence. Indeed a brave decision as the movie also includes a lot of blood shed and its hero is a die hard criminal.

The go-down fight and the temple sequence of Amitabh have become landmark sequences in Indian Cinema and have also been copied in many commercial advertisements. Even if you have seen this long time back, the movie still lingers in the memory strong enough. Another gem from the combination of Yash Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan. Highly Recommended for lovers of Golden Seventies Movies of Indian Cinema.

Hey Bobby, did you know -

Pancham had recorded 6 songs for Deewaar, out of which only 4 could make it to the film. However, the two that never made it to the film did make it to the LPs and the cassettes: idhar ka maal udhar and deewaaron ke jungle. A major strength of the film was its fantastic background score.
