Two films from the past, one original and other its version, but both are the masterpieces delivered by their respected directors. Though, the Indian version “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla” is an unaccepted adaptation of the original english black & white classic “12 Angry Men”, still I consider the realistic acting by the 12 Indian Actors, a step ahead of all the 12 Angry English Men.
Specially the class act by two Kapoors, Anu Kapoor and Pankaj Kapoor who played the old men in the jury, when actually both were very young and new at that time of their career. Both the movies are without any songs and with only 12 characters talking in a closed room. And both “12 Angry Men” & “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla” surely deserve to be in the collection of quality cinema lovers all over the world. In the English version Henry Fonda deserves a special mention for his strong acting skills and superb performance.
I strongly recommend you should see both the versions together at one go. And at the same time I also feel that the Indian filmmakers should have announced it as an official version of the original. Because the moment you come to know that it is an adaptation, it affects all the respect you had for the Indian writer & director.
