The 8th Jagran Film Festival is back in Delhi’s Siri Fort auditorium from July 1st to 5th this week and it has a very exciting and interesting ensemble of films from India and across the world (including feature and short films along with discussions with eminent personalities of Indian Cinema).

Here are the four important movies not to be missed in the festival having some unique features.

The Fakir Of Venice
Waiting its release since many years (IMDB states 2009) the festival begins with the premiere of THE FAKIR OF VENICE (Hindi/English) directed by Anand Surapur featuring Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor in the lead.  The film is about an Indian conman who takes a poor slum resident to Venice presenting him as a Fakir. It talks about the relationship between the two characters carrying out the deception in the foreign land.

Doctor Rakhmabai
Directed by Anant Mahadevan, yet to release DOCTOR RAKHMABAI (Marathi) tells us the story of India’s first practicing lady doctor, who had to fight against the ages old gender discrimination as a social rebel. The film traces the enlightening and eye-opener journey of the courageous woman and Tanishtha Chatterjee plays Rakhmabai in the film that has already won appreciation and accolades in various film festivals.

Chausar
Another still awaiting its release film ready since 2013, CHAUSAR directed by Sagar Sarhadi (of BAZAAR fame) features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amruta Subhash in the key roles. Having the tag line “Aurat Daav Pe Lagti Hai”, it’s about a woman’s conflict with the people around in her family and society making a strong social statement.

Mr. Kabaadi
As one of the last films of Late Om Puri, MR. KABAADI is directed by his wife Seema Kapoor and is a comic satire that will be screened as the closing film of the festival on its last day.

In addition, apart from many of the recent hits and much appreciated Hindi films ranging from Naam Shabana & Mukti Bhawan to Anarkali of Arrah, the festival also brings back cult films such as Chandni, Achanak, Dharavi, Bobby and Mera Naam Joker (featuring glimpses of Rishi Kapoor) too calling for an essential visit.
