Hum Dono (1995) & Rainman (1988)

Late Shafi Inamdaar's directorial venture “Hum Dono” starring Rishi Kapoor & Nana Patekar follows the main storyline of "Rainman". But here instead of an autistic brother (Dustin Hoffman), the director opts for a normal brother played by Nana Patekar.

The story goes in a similar manner where Nana Patekar is made the heir of a large wealth by his illegitmate father. The other son, Rishi Kapoor, when told the truth, goes out to bring his new unknown brother back with him to where he belongs. Rishi’s role is played by Tom Cruise in the English Original.
 
Though "Rainman" focuses mainly on the autistic brother and his extraordinary mathematical ability, "Hum Dono" focuses on the undisclosed relationships within the family and the cold vibes between two brothers.
