Usually I prefer watching small, lesser known films as it is really a delight to find a gem among such silent efforts made. Had personally seen the way KHOSLA KA GHOSLA was not being sold after getting complete and then began a trend in Hindi cinema post its release after one year or more of moving through various production houses and distributors.
Moreover, was still reluctant to watch a film with an unusual title P SE PYAAR F SE FARAAR, as now a lot of must watch content is easily available at a click at home, which has certainly affected the will power to watch these films in a costly multiplex.
So I had decided not to watch and later catch it on the online portals. But then, just got the sight of a good-sized advertisement of the film in the reputed Hindustan Times newspaper’s HT City supplement. And it had star ratings from 3 to 4 Stars given by Subahsh K. Jha, Asian Age, Deccan Chronicle, The Times of India, Bhaivkk Sangghvi, Jagran, Punjab Kesari, Navodaya Times and many Bollywood websites.
Looking at such praises showered upon by these reputed names, I decided to catch the film first before LAAL KAPTAAN and got fooled.
Will not like to make any comment on the names in the star-studded advertisement as liking a film or not is no doubt a subjective matter. But for me, it turned out to be a huge disappointment and I could easily sense it within 10 minutes of the onscreen proceedings featuring the new faces, the forced romance and songs focusing on the lead couple.
Having nothing novel in its content revolving around honour killing (with a puzzling climax), the film is a very casual, uneven or rather amateurish directorial venture of Manoj Tiwari, which surprisingly features names such as Jimmy Shergill, Sanjay Mishra, Kumud Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Girish Kulkarni and Brijendra Kala. But it was these actors only who kept me seated for more than two hours in the multiplex watching everything in the bizarre screenplay vaguely reminding you of the recent mega-hit SAIRAT (Marathi).
Ironically SAIRAT's official Hindi remake DHADAK also finds a mention in one of the scenes of the film and that too in a sarcastic way, calling it an unworthy remake. May be the makers were over-confident enough that they are at least making a much better film than DHADAK.
In all, though the extraordinarily tall debutant Bhavesh Kumar tries his best playing the innocense card, but P SE PYAAR F Se FARAAR frankly seems to be one of those ventures that are actually financed by the lead couple themselves in order to begin their filmy career. The step should not be condemned in the present scenario, but then the end result has to be worthy of all the heavy investments made to reap some decent benefits.
Sadly in this case, it will hardly work in their favour.
Rating : 1.5 / 5 (with an additional 0.5 for at least being bold enough to show the hatred led fanatic groups, more than willing to kill such young couples.)
