A Netflix India original based on Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same title, this 12 episodes long series based on Cricket has been produced by Anil Kapoor and Anand Tucker as a team..
The story follows an eccentric, cricket-obsessed father and his strong will to make his two sons the leading cricketers of the nation. He gets his sons admitted to a reputed school and its cricket academy where they meet a famous coach and their competitors too, who are rich, powerful and from the influential families.
The series begins well as something different focusing on the obsessed father who confidently keeps visiting various cricket clubs with his two boys, only to get humiliated in return. But then the direction and writing, soon loses its way as the story gets into its other sub-plots and the school politics. The progression becomes largely predictable as well as uninteresting after the mid-point and then it doesn’t reach any logical conclusion too in the end. In fact after the initial episodes, only Mahesh Manjrekar and Amruta Subhash happen to be the two key characters the viewer remains interested in forgetting the rest.
More importantly even when it’s a sports based series (and that too on Cricket made for the Indian audience), one neither feels emotionally connected nor excited watching either the preparations, game or the players trying their level best. So unless you cannot miss anything related with cricket, this can easily be skipped moving on to some other exciting content easily available at a click.
