Many a times in life, a wrong step taken in anger, in jealousy, in hate without thinking much, spoils an entire relationship, maybe an entire life with no chances of repairs or going back. Stories have been written around the consequences of such strong moments and films have been made around it too interpreting it in different ways on screen portraying such life transforming sequences.
However what this Spanish movie does with the concept goes beyond any routine presentation making a solid, outstanding impact that forces you to stop for a while and think how it can all change in life in just a few moments. An anthology of six powerful stories coming one after another giving a bigger and better shock than before, it grabs you from the collar and drives you in within the opening 10 minutes itself and then you remain seated till the end just watching it all happening in a still mode.
One might call it a well written and brilliantly executed Black Comedy, but it actually is a Violent Tragedy too with lives of its characters tragically changing forever with no chances of returning back to the normal. Written and directed by Damian Szifron, WILD TALES is certainly not an easy, pleasant or enjoyable film to watch. It entertains, but does that differently with lots of severe, unexpected shocks, which at times can also be termed as deliberate exaggerations created to make an impact.
Yet, it deserves to be seen as a must as an almost perfect amalgamation of solid performances, background score and execution all together. WILD TALES received a lot of appreciation in the various festivals all over the world including Cannes and won an Academy nomination too for the Best Foreign Language Film in 2015. So do watch it at the earliest and enjoy the roller coaster ride learning an important lesson of life about our anger……. Anger - that can destroy everything around us and our loved ones in just a few seconds beyond our imagination.
