It is not a widely known fact that Imtiaz Ali, the famous Bollywood director acclaimed for his Hit love stories, “Jab We Met” & “Love Aaj Kal” also had a short acting stint, early in his career, which happened almost a decade ago.

It was the time when Hindi Cinema had just started knocking at the door of a “New Age Thought Process” and many new innovative directors were searching their way to break into the historical default mode of the Hindi Film Industry. Anurag Kashyap was one of those few thinking directors, who was then working on his authentic project on the cause and effects of 1993 Mumbai bomb-blasts titled “Black Friday”.

And this was only the movie in which Imtiaz Ali played a small yet important character, who enters in the script towards its climax. If you have seen ‘Black Friday’ then you must have recognized him. But if you somehow missed to spot the Hit director in it, then watch it again, as he was the one who played the character of Yakub Memon, the brother of master-mind Tiger Memon in the movie.
