KAPIL SHARMA will have to accept - a comedy show works as a team and not as an individual. (Articles on Cinema by Bobby Sing)

The term ‘Expectation’ works both as a boon and a curse in the world of entertainment. At times you like a creation since you didn’t have much expectation from the same and at times you feel cheated, since you had much bigger expectations from an artist, a creator or a team eagerly awaiting their next venture.

Unfortunately the term worked negatively for Kapil Sharma’s comeback show returning after the break and most of us felt hugely disappointed watching the same old things and characters presenting their routine gags on just a new designer set or a fresh, colourful backdrop. To name them all, we had Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar and Navjot Singh Sidhu doing exactly what they used to do in the previous show. A celebrity (Ajay Devgn) coming to promote his latest film as usual and Kapil Sharma mostly making fun of or ridiculing the fellow participants on the stage as always, for which he has been criticized the most.

Representing the change, this time we have Neha Pendse (‘May I Come In Madam’ serial fame) as the glamour girl with whom Kapil could be seen flirting in the name of promised humour and audience members/families playing outdated, bizarre games winning several prizes. In fact that remains the only novelty in the show re-titled as Family Time with Kapil Sharma bringing in games, families and prizes but simply nothing else.

Besides, the one man seriously missed by all (yet again) remained Sunil Grover, who used to supremely contribute in the show forming the key member of the team before Kapil began having some personal issues with him.

The comeback show witnessed a wide rejection or disappointment expressed by fans and loyal viewers at various social networks and this should ideally convey the undeniable harsh truth to Kapil Sharma, that a comedy show always works as a team and never as an individual. A stand-up comedy of a few minutes can surely work for an individual reaching out to the people willing to hear. But a TV comedy show can only work with a competent team acknowledging and respecting the contribution made by each other - as a rule.
Sunil Grover, on the other hand has also tasted the bitter truth with his own flop shows and hope they both sort it out soon for the sake of their numerous fans in India and abroad.

In short, as the new show has just begun, we would love to see both Kapil and Sunil on the crease as two batsmen playing their shots winning the game for us. Hope the message reaches them both along with Sony TV, resulting in a much better and successful show in the coming weeks.

Cheers!
