ONE DAY – Anupam Kher does a Naseeruddin Shah in this mediocre moral crime thriller. [TTP (To The Point) Review by Bobby Sing]

In A WEDNESDAY (2008) - one of the best thrillers of Hindi Cinema, Naseeruddin Shah played the ethical rebellion and Anupam Kher enacted the role of a senior police officer after him. Now post a decade in ONE DAY (2019) – Anupam Kher plays a retired judge becoming an ethical rebellion and Esha Gupta enacts a police officer investigating his crimes.

However, the truth remains that apart from this reverse similarity, ONE DAY shouldn’t be even mentioned in the same sentence along A WEDNESDAY as its nothing but a seriously mediocre attempt of being a morally correct crime thriller relying more on its key performer than content.

Based on a poor and pathetically uninspiring writing, it has Anupam Kher and Kumud Mishra constantly trying to give you something to watch at one end, but all terrible performers forcing you to move out of it on the other, led by the constantly annoying Esha Gupta trying the lingo of “Tanney-Manney” so absurdly. As a result, even actors like Zarina Wahab, Rajesh Sharma and Zakir Hussain seem hamming in their various badly written and directed sequences.

In short, ONE DAY is one of those avoidable projects, which fortunately get made just because someone has arranged the finance to do so. And names such as Anupam Kher also very well know while signing for it.

To be fair, the only merit in it is the moral thought of punishing the corrupt teaching them a lesson and that’s it.
