Sholay - Bobby Talks Cinema.com

Unanimously considered as one of the most famous as well as commercially successful ventures till date, SHOLAY can certainly be called as the key representative of Hindi Cinema all over the globe, unarguably. There have been several discussions, interviews, articles, web-posts and a few books too written on the film and its unbelievable enigma still alive among the people even after four decades of its existence. And SHOLAY probably remains the only film every Indian knows about and loves too having many fond memories of the same, without any exception.

It’s a story of two convicts hired by a retired Police officer, to kill a dacoit active in his native village and much has been already written about the sources from where the makers took their ideas from while making this magnificent epic.

However despite all such evident accusations, SHOLAY stands tall due to the immense success, love, praise and reputation earned in all the past decades. Particularly as a film, which for the first time ever gave its negative characters a much longer life and fame, ahead than its two key heroes & their entertaining interactions. In fact such was the euphoria created by its dark characters of “Gabbar Singh”, “Samba” and “Kaalia”, that their names are still used as benchmarks and spoofs featuring in films made in the new millennium too.

With a fantastic background score by R. D Burman used brilliantly in all the cult scenes of the movie, SHOLAY remains one of the most satisfying big screen experiences ever produced by Hindi Cinema and there are numerous fans who have watched the film even more than 50 times and still counting.

Hence as an attempt to study this amazing phenomenon called SHOLAY, here we have five distinctive yet detailed articles written on the film at bobbytalkscinema.com & following are the links for all like-minded friends, willing to know more about the cult movie and its backstage stories given below :
