One name, has been an inspiration of almost every youth who is or was learning music in any discipline in the last two decades. And that name is The Great Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
No words are capable of describing the immense talent and knowledge of music, Ustad ji had. For me, he was one of the few personalities who were specially gifted by Goddess Saraswati and they were sent in this world only to give us their music. He is an artist from whom you can still learn by listening his works in deep meditation and gratitude.
Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has a record of most recorded output by a Qawwali artist. (a total of approximate 125 albums of recorded music). His fans worldwide including me still feel the absence of our master and remember him for his great works. For music lovers, he is an immortal soul living in his musical notes forever.
In India and Pakistan, Ustad ji got his due fame in the early nineties and then he went on to conquer the whole world. He was hugely famous even in the countries where no one understood his language but they all loved his rendition style, his energy and the wide range in which he played like a child.
It is really surprising that Qawwali Maestro Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was invited to India way back in 1979 to sing at the wedding of Rishi Kapoor, son of actor & director Raj Kapoor (and father of current heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor), in front of the prominent members of the Bombay film industry. This surely tells about the musical sense of Great Raj Kapoor as he recognized Ustad Ji’s talent, decade before the whole world could.
No matter what language you speak and understand, if you still haven’t heard him sing, you are missing one of the greatest musicians this planet has ever seen.
He’s Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan……………
