Hi Sir!

David Dhawan\'s \'CHAL MERE BHAI\' starring Salman Khan,Sanjay Dutt and Karishma Kapoor was inspired/copied from PTV\'s classic urdu serial UN-KAHI / ANKAHI.

Last night I watched its first two episodes.
The movie\'s scene where karishma collides with sanjay in his office,didn\'t know that she is applying for job in sanjay\'s office, sanjay rejecting her,karishma\'s meet with sanjay\'s father and sanjay\'s father hiring her for the job.....everything is taken from the urdu serial.
And I have heard that the whole basic plot of chal mere bhai is lifted from the classic serial.

Bobby Sing

Thanks again Raj for this piece of information and I would soon check it out and get back.

Cheers!

Great list but there is one thing....I have seen top hat which was released in 1935 and also chitchor released in 1976 and chitchor is in no way inspired by Top Hat..The only similarity between the two films is that the male protagonist is mistaken as someone else. In top hat,the heroine mistakes the hero as someone else while in chitchor the family mistakes believe that the hero is someone else...other than this there are no similarities at all and the storylines of both the films are as different as chalk n cheese...

Now, on the the basis of such a similarity, i dont think that a film can be called \'inspired\'..It\'s like saying that all the films which depict marital problems in a married couple life after marriage are the same or all the films in which the protagonist is a sportsman, toiling day n night to realise his dream of becoming the champion are the same or all the films in which a superhero is on mission to save the earth from an evil antagonist are the same... So please correct this minor niggle bcoz it somehow spoils the entire great list of inspired movies made by you... cheers

Hi Raunak,
If you look at the words used then, its not written inspired or copied from TOP HAT (1935) but it says " The Basic Plot taken from Top Hat" which simply means that its not an exact copy but does have a resembling plot.
Moreover the same words have also been used for "Main Prem Ki Deewani Hun" (2003) which is also based on the same plot and I just meant these words for the similar plot only.

Keep Visiting and Writing in,
Cheers!

Agreed that the words have been used only to show similarity/resemblance between the two plots. But the point, i wanted to make was that the resemblance is way too small to merit a mention in this list of \'C\' inspired movies. In fact there is almost no similarity between the two plots. Me saying this after going through the plot of Top Hat from various sources and more importantly after watching Top Hat (1935) myself.

Taking a clue from your point raised, I saw the movies again and have changed the one line for Chitchor giving the credit to the actual Bengali story writer. But since the similarity of mistaken identity of a friend is still there so I have specifically used the phrase "which also partially reminds you of “Top Hat” (1935)"

And I think this will do justice to both.
Cheers!

Hello!

Chachi 420 not only took inspiration from Mrs.Doubtfire but also from Tootsie.

In 'Tootsie' Dustin Hoffman's character was related to showbiz just like Kamal Hassan's character. One of the major plot point similar in both d films is the father of the heroine falling in love with Tootsie/Chachi

Bobby Sing

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply as many comments got hidden due to a technical glitch.
Yes Tootsie is considered to be a cult film that inspired a lot of later films and it must have been a source of inspiration here too.
Thanks for writing in with a valuable reference.
Cheers!
