Rajnigandha (1974) - (Movies To See Before You Die - Love Theme) |
If you have seen “Basu Chatterjee” movies then you must be familiar with his simple narration & middle class society stories filmed beautifully. "Rajnigandha" also has a simple but impressive story about how a heart keeps changing its preferences and likings like a pendulum, but also returns fast to its normal state seeing the reality.
Vidya Sinha feels this change in her love life when she meets Dinesh Thakur in Bombay, but later decides to returns to her first love, Amol Palekar giving it a serious thoguht. The melodious songs of the movie, have some real meaningful lyrics if you listen to them carefully. It is a true example of simple and straight movies, made in the 70s & 80s by our talented directors without any technical or graphical special effects and 5.1 surround sounds. Sadly, films like "Rajnigandha" are much better than most of the movies being made today with lavish budgets and resources. A lovable treat to watch, specially for the lovers.
