The rare, unheard antras of EK PYAR KA NAGHMA HAI from SHOR (1972) - By Bobby Sing (Did You Know - 56) |
Being the third article in the series of discovering those rare and unheard stanzas of memorable hits from the Golden Era of Hindi Cinema, here we have two unrecorded antras written by Santosh Anand for the immortal song “Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai” from Manoj Kumar’s SHOR (1972). Melodiously composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal and soulfully sung by Lata Mangeshkar & Mukesh, the song is rated among the best creations of that era, explaining life and its games using very simple yet meaningful words, well chosen by one of our most talented but forgotten or under-rated lyricists/poets of Hindi Cinema Janaab Santosh Anand.
Such is the magic in this spirited song, that while singing it along with the new antras, I went on to write five more stanzas on my own as my humble tribute to all the maestros associated with the track. But first, here are the two precious additional ones by the blessed poet himself in his own impeccable style……!
“Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai, Maujon Ki Rawaani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kuchh Bhi Nahin, Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!
Jo Beet Gaya Hai Woh, Ab Daur Na Aayega,
Is Dil Mein Siva Tere, Koi Aur Na Aayega,
Ghar Phoonk Diya Humne, Ab Raakh Uthaani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kuchh Bhi Nahin, Teri Meri Kahaani Hai!
Tum Saath Na Do Mera, Chalna Mujhe Aata Hai,
Har Aag Se Waaqif Hun, Jalna Mujhe Aata Hai,
Tadbeer Ke Hathon Se, Taqdeer Banani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kuchh Bhi Nahin, Teri Meri Kahaani Hai!
(With all my love and respect towards the original creators, here are the antras I wrote while flowing with the spirit of the track……….as per my own vision towards life…..!)
Tum Saath Agar Hotey, Aaasa(n) Yeh Dagar Hoti,
Main Chain Se Jee Leta, Tum Paas Agar Hoti,
Kuchh Beet Gayi Apni, Kuchh Aur Bitaani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kucch Bhi Nahin……………Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!
Sukh Hai To Dukh Bhi Hai, Dono Ka Bichhona Hai,
Ik Khel Hai Yeh Jeevan, Hota Hai Jo Hona Hai,
Umrhey Hue Baadal Ne, Bijlee Bhi Giraani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kucch Bhi Nahin……………Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!
Gar Dhoop Hai Yeh Jeevan, Yahaan Shaam Bhi Aati Hai,
Har Gham Ki Ghata Do Din, Aakar Chali Jaati Hai,
Aansoo Na Baha Aye Dil, Yeh Reet Purani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kucch Bhi Nahin……………Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!
Woh Dekh Raha Hai Sab, Tu Uska Khilona Hai,
Yeh Daur Hain Jeevan Ke, Aisa Bhi Kya Rona Hai,
Usi Ek Sahaare Ne, Bigrhi Bhi Banani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kucch Bhi Nahin……………Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!
Kuch Aur Thehar Aye Dil, Jeena Tujhe Aayega,
Ik Khaas Ada Tujhko, Dushman Bhi Sikhayega,
Baazi Jo Laagayi Hai, Woh Jeet Ke Jaani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kucch Bhi Nahin……………Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!
Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai, Maujon Ki Rawaani Hai,
Zindagi Aur Kuchh Bhi Nahin, Tere Meri Kahaani Hai!”

(The above five additional verses are all included in the dedicated chapter about the cult song in my book DID YOU KNOW Vol.1 also mentioned below)
As an additional info, the lyricist used the opening lines of both his unused antras in a song “Dil Deewane Ka Dola” for film TEHELKA (1992) in its concluding part filmed on Dharmendra. Also, Manoj Kumar used the opening couplet, “Tum Saath Na Do Mera…..” in one of his own dialogues in film ROTI KAPDA AUR MAKAAN released in 1974.)
(Note : You can hear the new stanzas and more from the poet himself in a few Youtube videos of his renditions in reputed Mushairas.)
Note : The write-up is an edited form of the chapter shared from my book mentioned below. The next volume of the series DID YOU KNOW will be releasing soon with more such information and rare shres.

Ek din sabko hai marna, Ek din mit jaana hai,
Khul ke jio jeevan , Phir sabko jaana hai,
Do pal ka jeevan hai, Phir khatm kahaani hai,
Zindagi aur kuch bhi nahi, Teri meri kahaani hai.

Hi Bobbyji, This song in itself is a beautiful song, with deep inner meaning to it. It helps you to learn to live life the way it comes. Right from my childhood I had loved this song and the movie too, but today when I read the lines added by you it brought tears to my eyes. The way you have written the additional lines, I do not have words to express my feelings. Tum Saath Agar Hotey, Aaasa(n) Yeh Dagar Hoti, What a line for those lovers who have gone apart but still remember and look forward for each others shoulders. Sukh Hai To Dukh Bhi Hai, Dono Ka Bichhona Hai, What a motivational line for those who are in a depressed mood, a great indicator that life has both sorrow and joy so please do not worry and bother about sorrow its a part of life. Gar Dhoop Hai Yeh Jeevan, Yahaan Shaam Bhi Aati Hai, This lines are apt for those who are disturbed by the difficulties in life, its a moral booster for them Gham ki ghata bhi chali jaayegi. Woh Dekh Raha Hai Sab, Tu Uska Khilona Hai, Wah, what a line about destiny, nothing is in our hand everything is destined, so do not bother much about it. The conclusion is just fantastic. Kuch Aur Thehar Aye Dil, Jeena Tujhe Aayega, Ik khaas ada tujhko, dushman bhi sikhayega, Bobbyji hats off to you. In fact not only these added lines, but each and every line of the 51 chapters of your book are fantastic. In fact I had wanted to get this book for a longtime but for some reason or the other I was not in a position to order it. I had ordered it couple of days back and two days back I had got the same delivered. Each and every chapter is fantastic. In fact while reading the book I had marked all those movies and songs which were listed, got the link copied and downloaded each and every movie and song listed in the book from Chapter 1 to Chapter 42. The movies and songs listed from Chapter 43 to 51 will be downloaded in a day or two. Bobbyji if you do not mind please share me your mobile number, you can send me the same either on my mail id or you can send me a message on my mobile number +91 8879634327. Also please let me know where are you based. I am from Mumbai, once I come to know where you are based as and when I come to your city would love to meet you once. Sorry to have bored you with such a long comment.

Hi Shrini Ji, First of all sorry for so late reply as I somehow missed the comment in my site's inbox.

Hi Bobbyji, Thanks for your response. Please note that in your reply to the comment you had mentioned that "As desired I have sent you a mail with other required details too.". However I have not received any email from you with the other required details. May be in your busy schedule it must have gone slipped out of your mind. Please do arrange to send me the other details at the earliest. Sorry to have bothered you. Best Regards,
Bobby Sing
Hi Shrini Ji,
Vivek
Zindagi ka musafir hu, chalta chala jaunga Gar tu jo pukare gaa, dauda chala aaunga Jise dil diya mene, usko bhi chalana hai Zindagi aur kuch bhi nahi, teri meri kahani hai
Tum sath chaloge to, mud ke mai na dekhunga Saya bhi tera apne, saaye se lapetunga Tere naam kiya hai jo, wo pyar nibhana hai Zindagi aur kuch bhi nhi, teri meri kahani hai...
Vivek
Kehna tha bahut kuch aur, ab kuch na me keh paunga Jeevan dediya mene, ab aur kya de paunga Rahe jo bichdi thi, ab raah milani hai, Zindagi aur kuch bhi nhi, teri meri kahani hai...
